Tesla Maintains Stable Bitcoin Holdings in Q4 2023, Earnings Report Reveals
According to the latest earnings report, Tesla, the electric car manufacturer, retained a stable Bitcoin$42,260 -0.64% portfolio in the fourth quarter of 2023. Despite the report's lack of explicit mention of Bitcoin, it is implied that Tesla neither acquired nor offloaded any Bitcoin in the quarter ending September. At the moment, these holdings are estimated to be worth $387 million.

Tracking data from Bitcoin Treasuries reveals that Tesla holds more than 9,720 BTC. This makes it the third-largest public holder of the digital asset, trailing behind software firm MicroStrategy and mining organization Marathon.

In February 2021, the company, led by Elon Musk, invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin, amassing approximately 43,000 BTC. It was also in this period that Tesla announced that it would begin accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment. However, to optimize its cash position amidst COVID-related uncertainties, the company began to sell its Bitcoin holdings later in the year. By the second quarter of 2022, Tesla reported that it had sold 75% of its Bitcoin holdings.
