Shiba Inu Team Collaborates with D3 for New .shib Blockchain Domain
A recent collaboration between the developers of Shiba Inu$0.000010 -2.05% and internet domain provider D3 looks to launch a new .shib internet and blockchain domain. This initiative is part of a larger movement towards identity-focused blockchain projects.
Shiba Inu and the .shib Domain
Shiba Inu representatives disclosed in a Telegram discussion that the team is currently developing an application for this .shib domain. They intend to submit their application during the next application phase to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which serves as an international repository for internet domains.
All internet domain applications are scrutinized and approved by ICANN, granting domain owners the right to sell the dot com suffix. This move by Shiba Inu takes the concept further, binding a crypto wallet's owner to a domain name that can serve as an identity validation on blockchain platforms, thereby maintaining the user's privacy.
Partnership with D3
The collaboration with D3 opens up numerous opportunities for Shiba Inu. Lead Developer of Shiba Inu, Shytoshi Kusama$49.4 -1.55%, expressed, "This partnership enables us to reach beyond the current ShibArmy, offering direct access to the SHIB ecosystem to over 5 billion internet users. The integration of real domains into SHIB is a significant step forward, expanding our vision for digital identities within our decentralized ecosystem while also promoting sustained revenue generation within the ecosystem.
Shiba Inu's Shib Name Service (SNS)
The proposed .shib domains will be integrated with Shiba Inu's existing Shib Name Service (SNS). Introduced in November, SNS offers a framework for digital identity verification across all products developed on the Shiba Inu blockchain and Shibarium, a layer 2 network.
