FOAM is an innovative and open protocol that uses the Ethereum blockchain to provide proof of location. Its primary objective is to create a consensus-driven map of the world, thus facilitating a completely decentralized web3 economy with verified location data. FOAM encourages the necessary infrastructure for private and fraud-proof location verification. The project begins with static proof of location, allowing a community of Cartographers to curate geographic Points of Interest on the FOAM map. FOAM's dynamic proof of location protocol, developed through worldwide community-driven initiatives, enables an independent network of radio beacons that provide secure location verification services, without reliance on external centralized sources.
FOAM Token Functionality
Add and Curate Geographic Points of Interest
The FOAM Spatial Index Visualizer equips Cartographers with the tools to engage with interactive TCR POIs on a map. Users have the ability to add points to the map, validate new entries and confirm the map by visiting actual locations. The FOAM Token Curated Registry facilitates mapping in a secure and permissionless manner, allowing locations to be ranked and managed based on the token balances. By depositing FOAM Tokens into POIs on the map, users can amplify the attention that these POIs attract.
Signal for Zone Incentivisation
The FOAM Token additionally allows Cartographers to stake their tokens in order to Signal. This mechanism is designed to incentivize the growth and geographic coverage of the FOAM network. To Signal, a Cartographer stakes FOAM Tokens to a Signaling smart contract, associated with a specific area. These staked tokens act as indicators of demand, and are proportional to the length of time staking and the number of tokens staked. As part of the Dynamic Proof of Location concept, these indicators help determine the spatial mining rewards.
Contribute to Potential Secure Location Services as Zone Anchor or Verifier
The FOAM protocol provides the potential for users to offer work and secure localization services and provide location verification for smart contracts. In return, they might earn new FOAM Tokens in the form of mining rewards. Devices and real-world contracts can be programmed to allocate attestations and track interactions and transactions on the map. As the FOAM network expands through the addition of necessary radio hardware by individual users, it may become possible to prove location status in a different way. This 'Dynamic
