CRISP Scored Cookstoves is an innovative solution to tackle the challenge of climate change financing. Developed by Solid World, this project uses a tokenization approach to democratize access to the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM), eliminating the difficulties faced by carbon project developers due to high upfront costs and opaque financing mechanisms.

CRISP-C: A solution to finance quality climate action

At its core, the CRISP Scored Cookstoves project offers a token called CRISP-C. This token enables cookstove project developers to sell their future carbon credits in advance at a discount. The discount on these credits is inversely proportional to their delivery timeline. Therefore, the farther a credit is from delivery, the greater the discount offered. Each CRISP-C token represents the value of one ton of carbon credits based on cookstoves at maturity.

Benefits of CRISP-C

The unique structure of the CRISP-C token not only provides immediate liquidity to project developers but also benefits token holders. As the forward credits traded for CRISP-C move closer to maturity, the initial discount is allocated to the token's liquidity providers. This mechanism generates a consistent source of liquidity incentives without diluting the token's value for existing holders.

Ensuring Project Quality: The CRISP Framework

All cookstove projects using CRISP-C are subjected to Solid World's CRISP (Carbon Risk Identification and Scoring Principles) Framework. The CRISP Framework is designed to minimize the risk of underdelivery of carbon credits. It also includes replacement guarantees from suppliers. These projects are then reviewed and approved by the pool's Curation Council, comprising major liquidity providers of the CRISP-C token.

Apart from directly benefiting project developers and token holders, CRISP Scored Cookstoves plays a crucial role in accelerating climate action. By making climate finance more accessible and transparent, it increases the impact of carbon reduction projects, helping in the collective fight against climate change. In addition, the project also functions as a decentralized warehouse for climate finance, connecting buyers and sellers across time, as the supply gets certified and moves out of the system.
