Trump Credits Ramaswamy, Maintains Anti-CBDC Stance

Donald Trump Stands Firm on His Anti-CBDC Stance

Whilst speaking at a public event in Laconia, New Hampshire, former U.S president Donald Trump reiterated his firm opposition to the concept of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). This follows his previous commitments voiced at earlier campaign stops to prevent their creation.

Relaying a Resolute Retort

Mr. Trump conveyed his position against CBDCs to the public, stating, This would pose a grave risk to freedom, and I am committed to preventing its introduction to America." He elaborated that such a digital currency would hand the federal government absolute control over citizens' finances where they might seize funds without the individual's knowledge or consent.

Supporter of Anti-CBDC Stance Halts Campaign

Crypto advocate Vivek Ramaswamy, known for his criticism against CBDCs, recently ended his campaign post a disappointing performance in Iowa caucuses. Trump had referred to Ramaswamy in his speech, declaring his intentions against the creation of CBDCs.

Suspension of Governor Ron Desantis's Campaign

Another critic of CBDCs, Florida Governor Ron Desantis, has also stepped down from his campaign, throwing his support behind Trump. In an online video, he stated, It's evident to me that a majority of Republican primary voters wish to give Donald Trump another opportunity. I signed a promise to support the Republican nominee, and I intend to honor that commitment.

Impact on Crypto's Role in Politics

With Ramaswamy and DeSantis no longer contesting the primary elections, the prominence of crypto-related issues might be diminished. While digital assets have sporadically featured as a subject of conversation among Republican candidates, with recent candidate withdrawals and Nikki Haley's lack of emphasis on crypto, its significance in discussions may further decrease.

Change in Voters' Interests?

However, the topic of CBDCs remained a trending subject in Governor DeSantis' office last year, indicating that the voters might be interested in hearing more on the subject.
