Telefónica Expands Coverage in Mexico City and Oaxaca with Mobile Hotspots
Telefónica (TEF), a leading telecommunications service provider, is enhancing its network coverage by launching mobile hotspots across Mexico City and Oaxaca. This innovative initiative is the result of a partnership with Nova Labs, a technology firm leveraging the power of the Helium$6.74 6.56% blockchain.
Partnership Promises Enhanced Mobile Coverage
With this partnership, Telefónica's substantial customer base will have access to Helium's mobile hotspots. The primary objective of this move is to boost mobile coverage through effective data sharing. Telefónica is a publicly traded company with an impressive market cap exceeding $20 billion. The telecom giant boasts 383 million customers and oversees operations in Latin America and Europe.
Testing Telefónica's Solution
José Juan Haro, the chief wholesale and public affairs officer at Telefónica, emphasised the importance of the Mexican program in assessing the performance, customer satisfaction, and cost implications of this solution.
Helium's HNT Token Showing Positive Signs
The Helium's native cryptocurrency, HNT, recorded a 5.71% increase over the past 24 hours. This encouraging performance came before the partnership announcement.
Helium's Partnership with Dish and its Global Reach
In 2021, Helium embarked on a partnership with internet behemoth Dish to build its 5G network. Today, the network spans nearly one million hotspots, reaching 65,000 cities and 170 countries globally.
A Joint Initiative for Improved Network Coverage
The collaboration between Telefónica and Helium will facilitate the offloading of mobile data to the Helium Mobile Network. This strategy aims to improve network coverage for customers and provide them with an enhanced user experience.
