Delay in Minting Bitcoin Ordinals Project 'Quantum Cats' Collection
The Bitcoin$42,260 -0.64% Ordinals project, Taproot Wizards, has postponed the minting of its 'Quantum Cats' collection for the second time. The decision was made after the process was halted in the middle of the sale on Monday due to continuous technical glitches. The sale is now scheduled to recommence on Feb. 1st.
Previous Setbacks and Plans for Future Sale
Initially, the project announced that the process would continue on Tuesday. The proposed sale of around 3,000 digital cats, created to commemorate a Bitcoin improvement proposal known as OP_CAT, commenced with a two-hour period for whitelist buyers at 17:00 UTC on Monday. However, the project's Discord channel was quickly overrun with complaints and screenshots from users claiming they were experiencing difficulties with the minting website.
Statement by Taproot Wizards Co-founder Udi Wertheimer
Udi Wertheimer, co-founder of Taproot Wizards, expressed disappointment at the day's events on the social media platform, X. He admitted that the company's expectations for mint day were not met, both from the company's perspective and that of the users.
Revised Schedule for Next Minting
The whitelist minting process is set to start again at 17:00 UTC (2 pm ET) on Feb. 1, and will now last five hours instead of the previously allocated two hours. After taking a one-hour break, the minting process will continue for the general sale until all the pieces in the collection are sold out.
Initial Plans and Current Challenges
Wertheimer indicated that they had aimed to create a novel minting experience that would tackle issues such as fee/gas wars and mempool sniping, offering everyone an immediate guaranteed mint. However, the reality fell short of their initial expectations.
Taproot Wizards' Funding and Future Plans
In November, Taproot Wizards secured $7.5 million in seed funding for projects centered around the rapidly expanding field of inscriptions from the Ordinals protocol. This area is casually known as NFTs on Bitcoin.
