Saga DAO Suffers Major Financial Setback
In a recent cyber incident, Saga DAO, a community-run fan club for Solana$104 5.03%'s highly sought-after mobile phone, lost a significant portion of its treasury. The loss was due to a hacker's activity, which resulted in the theft of 750 SOL, currently valued around $60,000.
Targeting the Founder
The attacker seems to have targeted the pseudonymous founder of Saga DAO, known online as zkRedDevil. As per a post on X (previously known as Twitter), zkRedDevil disclosed that they were victims of a remote hack on their personal PC. The incident led to a major drain of their personal and the group's SOL, which was stored in a wallet that was supposedly secured with multisig protections.
Perils of the Hack
This unauthorized intrusion serves as a significant financial blow to Saga DAO. Despite only being a few weeks old, the platform, largely a Discord server, enables Saga owners to discuss the benefits their phones provide. These include complimentary tokens and NFTs. Interestingly, the SOL that Saga DAO lost originated from the sale of a pre-launch shitcoin, as evidenced by posts on its Discord.
Building Up the Group
Following the unexpected monetary gain, the founders of Saga DAO had bolstered efforts to develop the group. They introduced formal policies and governance mechanisms aimed at empowering the owners of the Saga phone. The Saga phone is an Android device boasting unique cryptocurrency capabilities on the Solana network.
