Solana Mobile Launches Second Crypto Smartphone: Insider Report

Solana Mobile Gears Up to Launch Second Crypto-Compatible Smartphone

Following the unexpected success of its first crypto-ready smartphone, SolanaSolana$104 5.03% Mobile is reportedly planning to release a second smartphone. The forthcoming gadget, like its forerunner, known as Saga, will come with foundational features such as an integrated crypto wallet, a distinct Android operating system, and a dedicated crypto app store.

Improved Features, Lower Pricing, and Different Hardware

The new phone will not only maintain similar features to the Saga but also be fitted with differing hardware and offered at a reduced price point. When the original phone was first released last year, it came with a $1000 price tag. However, it experienced a price reduction after struggling with sales figures.

Addressing the Secondary Market and Bolstering Supply

The release of a new Solana Mobile phone might aid in stabilizing the currently volatile secondary market, characterized by the scarce supply of the existing Saga smartphones. A factory-sealed Saga device was recently fetching bids at $3,200 on eBay, which is a whopping five-fold increase from its price just five weeks prior.

Saga's Change of Fortune

A few weeks ago, Saga's backers were contemplating shifting gears from their experimental phone. Their goal had been to establish a mobile-oriented platform for crypto traders and NFT collectors. However, they were facing challenges securing a market extensive enough to warrant its existence. The scenario took a sudden turn when crypto traders discovered that the phone came loaded with an allocation of BONK tokens. These tokens amounted to a value that exceeded the device's cost, leading to the Saga being sold out within a week.

Beneficial Returns for Saga Phone Owners

Over the past month, the Saga phones have proven profitable to their owners. Several projects have been dropping lucrative tokens and NFTs to the 15,000 phones currently in circulation. These airdrops have strengthened the community around Saga and have encouraged more Solana developers to explore the development of mobile applications.

However, Solana Mobile was not immediately available for comment.
