Ripple's XRP$0.620 -1.68% token peaked at an all-time high (ATH) of $3.40 on January 7, 2018. However, it has since then witnessed a drastic fall of over 80% from its 2018 highs. In contrast, other leading cryptocurrency projects like Bitcoin$42,260 -0.64% (BTC) and Ethereum$2,315 -2.42% (ETH) achieved their respective ATHs towards the end of 2021.

Challenges Facing the XRP Token

Despite XRP's failure to replicate the exceptional performance of its peers in 2021, this can likely be attributed to Ripple's legal tussle with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), a case that has been in progress since December 2020. Earlier this year, a district court ruled in Ripple's favor, but the issue now resides with a higher court.

Price Evolution and Predicted Future Performance

Since the start of the year, XRP's price has witnessed a rise of over 80%. While this performance is significant, it does not quite match up to BTC's growth of over 150% and Solana$104 5.03%'s (SOL) whopping growth of over 500% within the same period.

If the higher court's ruling favors Ripple, there could be a rise in XRP's adoption and price. The timeline for this court decision, however, remains undetermined. Despite this uncertainty, a positive outcome could significantly aid XRP in surpassing its ATH.

As per Changelly, XRP could inch closer to its ATH sometime in 2027, roughly three years from now. The analysts at Changelly predict that the token could reach an apex price of $3.49 by 2027. Furthermore, they foresee XRP achieving a peak price of $1.18 in 2024, indicating a growth of over 90% from current levels.

Potential Long-term Growth Forecast

By the end of the decade, Changelly predicts that Ripple's XRP token could reach a maximum price of $10.72, showing a potential growth of over 1600% from current levels.
