OKX Wallet Users Urged to Update iOS App Following Security Breach
Certik, a prominent blockchain security firm, recently detected a critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in an earlier release of the OKX Wallet iOS app. The firm cautioned that users utilizing this compromised version could potentially risk exposure of sensitive data and crypto assets.
OKX's Prompt Response to Security Breach
In response to the flaw detected by Certik, OKX swiftly released an updated version of their app. However, it remains uncertain whether any crypto assets have been illicitly extracted from the OKX wallets of users. No immediate response was available from OKX regarding the situation.
Rising Vulnerability of Cryptocurrency Wallets and Exchanges
Recent months have seen a surge in security breaches targeting cryptocurrency wallets and exchanges. In November alone, hackers managed to extract a staggering $114 million from Poloniex. This was followed by another heist, where $100 million was stolen from HTX and the cross-chain bridge Heco.
Security Concerns for Atomic Wallet Users
In June, Atomic wallet users experienced a significant loss, with $35 million worth of bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), and other tokens vanishing following an update to a new version of the iOS app.
Exploit Targets Ledger's Connect Kit
Just last week, an exploit targeting Ledger's Connect Kit resulted in $484,000 being drained from various protocols that use Ledger's integration.
