The renowned US-based cryptocurrency exchange, Bittrex, has recently declared its upcoming closure. The company has announced its plan to cease all operations, with the disablement of all trading activities on Bittrex GlobalBittrex Global effective from December 4th, 2023. This closure decision accompanies a detailed timeline of the exchange's concluding months.

Bittrex Unveils Timeline for Shutdown

The year 2023 marked a period of struggle and regression for the Seattle-based Bittrex exchange. The company faced charges from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in April for violating federal laws. Subsequently, in May, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Downfall Leading to Closure

This sequence of setbacks has led to the eventual end of Bittrex. The company released a timeline detailing its planned closure on X, which was previously known as Twitter. The company's announcement read as follows: Bittrex Global has decided to wind down its operations. Trading activity on Bittrex Global will be disabled effective Monday 4 December 2023. Following this date, customers will be able to withdraw assets as part of the winding down process.

Urging Users for Immediate Asset Withdrawal

Within the announcement, Bittrex clarified that trading activities will be halted from December 4, 2023. After this date, customers will only be able to withdraw assets in line with the closure process. Users were urged to retrieve their assets promptly in light of the winding-down efforts. However, they were assured that their funds and tokens remain secure on the Bittrex Global Platform and are available for withdrawal during the closure process.
